The lineage

A tradition carried by hand, from teacher to student

Asher Shehzad took his taleem from Ustad Haroon Samuel of the Punjab gharana — the old guru–shishya training, learned in Lahore across years rather than terms.

He has performed professionally since 2010, as a soloist and as an accompanist, on Pakistan's principal concert platforms and in the studios of Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan. He has taught the instrument, and the theory of laya and taal beneath it, for over a decade.
